The greatest example of a true BFF (Best Friend Forever) is found in Jonathan and David. He didn’t need to be David’s friend. Yet, he followed God wholeheartedly and he submitted to God when God said David was to be the next king. He went one step further.

1 Samuel 23:17, “He said to him, Fear not; the hand of Saul my father shall not find you. You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you. Saul my father knows that, too.”

Jonathan encouraged David and gave him his full support. He said when you become king I will be right beside you to help you in any way I can. A true friend helps others fulfill their purpose.

Jonathan could have been bitter because the kingdom was taken away from his family, but he was not. He was ready to help David, ascend the throne, that at one time, would have been his.
