I have just finished a round of Prednisone and I am greatly tempted to attend a birthday party today. I would love it if God would tell me in an audible voice to go. But God expects me to us common sense and wisdom.

Acts 27:10, “Saying, Sirs, I perceive [after careful observation] that this voyage will be attended with disaster and much heavy loss, not only of cargo and the ship but of our lives also.”

“Not by any Divine communication, but simply in the exercise of a good judgment aided by some experience. The event justified his decision.” Critical and Explanatory Commentary, Vol. II

Later, during a crisis, Paul reminded them of this.

Acts 27:21, “…Paul…said, Men you should have listened to me…”

“Not meaning to reflect on them for the past, but to claim their confidence for what he was now to say.” Critical and Explanatory Commentary, Vol. II

Paul wasn’t saying, “I told you so.” He wanted to build their trust.

At the Faith Conference last week, Apostle Fred Price said, “You don’t cross the street by faith, but by sight.”

My sight and common sense tells me attending an outdoor party, in 90 degree weather, on a sunny day, with a crowd, and pets, would be a disaster. I think it would be better for my husband to represent us for the entire party, than for us to arrive, me have a reaction, and have to leave right away. That would definitely put a damper on the party!
