Each week, before the service, Joe prays the same prayer over the musicians, “Lord, make us better than we are.” We are all children of God who serve the same Father.
Philippians 2:22, “But Timothy’s tested worth you know, how as a son with his father he has toiled with me zealously in [serving and helping to advance] the good news (the Gospel).”
“When we might expect the sentence to run thus, ‘As a child serveth a father, so he served me;’ he changes it to ‘served with me’ in modesty; as Christians are not servants to one another, but servants of God with one another (Ch. 3:17).” Critical and Explanatory Commentary, Vol. II
When we all give our best to God together, it makes beautiful music. (I should have prayed that prayer later before I played the hymns at the nursing home service. It wasn’t pretty.)
