There are many things in the Bible that I don’t understand. Sometimes, when I read a verse, I think they are talking about one thing and it will be something altogether different!

Ezekiel 13:18, “And say, Thus says the Lord God: Woe to the women who sew pillows to all armholes…”

I thought they were talking about dress shields. Not at all!

Sew pillows to arm-holes, rather, elbows and wrists, for which the false prophetesses made cushions, to lean on, as a symbolic act, typifying the perfect tranquility which they foretold to those consulting them…I am against your pillows (v. 20), against your lying ceremonial tricks by which ye cheat the people.” Critical and Explanatory Commentary, Vol. I
