You People are Precious to Me

Hundreds of years passed after the book of Malachi was written and before the events in Matthew through John.

The last two chapters of Malachi must have been read over and over.

God wanted the Jews to know how he felt about them.

Malachi 3:17, “Then the Lord All-Powerful said: You people are precious to me, and when I come to bring justice, I will protect you, just as parents protect an obedient child.”

The first references given in today’s sermon by Pastor Monte Knudsen was John 1:12, 13. In those verses we see that God gives us the power to become sons of God. We are called sons of God in 1 John 3:1. We are God’s children by spiritual birth.

Spiritual birth is as easy as A.B.C.:

A. Accept that we are sinners.

B. Believe the Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins.

C. Confess our decision to someone.

After taking that step, Malachi 3:17 applies to us. God says, “You are precious to me.”
