Atone for Iniquity

Daniel 9:24, “Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city; to finish the transgression, to put an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, to bring an everlasting righteousness to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place.” ESV

“Some Biblical scholars suggest that the sixty-nine ‘weeks’ until Messiah would come (v. 25) began with the decree that was issued to Nehemiah in 445 BC and ended 483 years later on Palm Sunday (based on 360 day years; see Rev. 11:3; 12:6; 13:5). The phrase ‘an anointed one shall be cut off’ (v. 26) is a reference to the crucifixion of Christ.” ESV Hebrew-Greek Key Word Study Bible Notes

I am so grateful that I do not have to ‘atone for my iniquity’ because Jesus Christ became my atonement on the cross. All I had to do was believe in him and accept the fact he took my place.
