Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” ESV
“Some have suggested that there were two contrasting accounts of creation in the first two chapters of Genesis, but the two actually complement each other. Genesis 1:1-2:4a presents a wide-angle view of all seven days of creation and deals with the creation of man and woman as a single act. Genesis 2:4b-24 focuses on the sixth day, giving details that were not mentioned in the overview of chapter 1, and focusing on the separate origins of man and woman. Therefore chapters 1 and 2 are not in chronological sequence; Genesis 2:4b-24 presents in greater detail some of what is merely summarized in Genesis 1:11, 12, 24-31.” ESV Hebrew-Greek Key Word Study Bible Notes
The Bible is not a chronological book. The events in 1 & 2 Samuel and 1 & 2 Kings are also covered in 1 & 2 Chronicles.
The NIV Study Bible called Genesis, “…basically prose narrative, punctuated here and there by brief poems…”
