Exodus 6:9, “Moses spoke thus to the people of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses, because of their broken spirit and harsh slavery.” ESV
Last week I had to have a tooth removed. It did not go well.
The tooth was on 2 nerves and it took 5 shots to numb it. It broke, and the root remaining in the bone had to be drilled out. The opening left was large enough that he stitched the gums.
Meanwhile, my husband had to have a mole removed and I needed to take him. A half a dozen stitches later, we were back home, and my face started swelling.
It was not a fun week.
I went back to the dentist Friday and he said, “Ibuprofen, Tylenol, and soft foods for a few more days.” By Sunday night, my jaw was not as sore.
Monday morning I woke up with a sinus headache and a broken spirit. How do you heal a broken spirit?
I turned Pandora on to the worship station and played it all morning while I napped and read.
David brought home “Taco Johns” and the spices made my nose run and my sinuses drain. I woke up this morning pain-free. I was ready to get back to writing because I was in good spirits.
Proverbs 18:14, “A man’s spirit will endure sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear.” ESV
