Exodus 12:35, “The people of Israel had also done as Moses told them, for they had asked the Egyptians for silver and gold jewelry and for clothing.” ESV

“It was customary to give a gift at the parting of friends or departure of a servant. Probably in a state of panic following the Passover, the Egyptians were willing to give the Israelites (their longtime servants) anything if they would leave and do so quickly, (v. 36).
