Remembering the Free Food, But Forgeting the Slavery

Numbers 11:5, “We remember the fish we ate in Egypt that cost nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic.” ESV

They remembered the food, but forgot the bondage and slavery.

There is a picture of “government free cheese” that is circulating on Facebook. The caption says something like this: “You never were really poor, unless you ate this.”

Before our wedding, my fiance was laid off and we spent the first several months of our marriage living on my nanny salary and 10 odd jobs. We ate a lot of free cheese.

When my husband was hired at the lumberyard, I was surprised how they tried to keep us on their government programs. But, the free food always had strings attached. We wanted to better our financial lives, not stay stuck in poverty.

We walked away from the free food and worked harder at stretching the resources God provided.

When God is your source, He multiplies!
