I’m Still in Bible School

I grew up on Bible schools and always assumed that I would return when I graduated from high school. I was accepted at 2 different Bible schools, but got seriously ill a few weeks before I was to leave…twice!

In fact, I was sick for over a year. I thought I was recovered from the first illness when I contracted pneumonia. I was unable to even work until 15 months after I graduated.

God had other plans for me. I met and married David and was hired as the first secretary at our church before our first wedding anniversary! I worked there for 24 years, until sickness waylaid me again.

I started reading through the Bible every year when I was 13. I was bemoaning the fact I did not get to go to Bible School when God spoke to my heart, “There are 2 ways to learn: take a class and have others teach you, or read it over and over and learn it on your own.”

I’ve been in “Bible School” for most of my life and I did not even realize it!

Reading and studying the Bible is so important that God commanded the Kings of Israel to do it. They even had to write out their own copy.

Deuteronomy 17:18, 19, “And when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he shall write for himself in a book a copy of this law, approved by the Levitical priests. And it shall be with him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God by keeping all the words of this law and these statutes and doing them.” ESV

Dear Lord,

Thank you for your word. Thank you for the mysteries in the Bible that you reveal a little at a time.
