Where She Could Be Found

When I was pregnant with our first child, our church was in a building program. We sold the former church and for a summer my office was one end of a three car garage.

When fall came, they insulated one end and built an office that I shared with the Pastor. They built an outhouse for our use.

Whenever anyone needed to talk to the Pastor, I had to take a walk. I lamented many times, “I wish I had a private office.”

When my birthday rolled around Pastor told me he was giving me a private office. He had painted, “Pam’s Private Office” on the girl’s side of the outhouse. He said I spent as much time in there as I did in the other office. (That happens when you are pregnant!)

I took a lot of ribbing over my “private office,” but 15 years later I did get a private office…upstairs…all by myself! I could be found there most of the time. It was quiet and I could concentrate.

Deborah was a judge and a prophetess. You knew where she could be found – under her palm tree.

Judges 4:5, “She used to sit under the palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the people of Israel came up to her for judgment.” ESV

Dear Lord,

I want to always be where you have assigned me.
