Today I had to order some medical supplies. There was a note on the website, “Free shipping on orders over $79.00!”

I was tempted to order one more item to get the free shipping. I discussed it with David and he said, “Let’s not order something that costs more than the shipping charges just to get free shipping.”

I went back to the order and actually deleted and item because I decided I really didn’t need it. I do not have a problem discerning needs from wants or desires. I have had a lot of practice!

I don’t want you to think we are living in poverty because we are not. On the other hand, we are not independently wealthy either! We are living Proverbs 30:8.

Proverbs 30:8, 9, “First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty or riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.” New Living Translation

I am blessed, not because I do not have great riches, but because I realize I need him.

Matthew 5:3, “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.” New Living Translation

Dear Lord,

Walk with me in 2016. I need your guidance every step of the way. Thank you that you never leave me or abandon me.
