Fairness

I had an interesting conversation with my brother, Jon, yesterday. He watches the financial advisers on TV. One thing they advocate is to always have a mortgage on your house for the tax benefits.

I told him, “If you lose your job, and your house is mortgaged, you could lose your house.” (You lose that tax benefit when you cannot itemize your deductions anyway.)

He finally said, “You say the opposite of the experts!”

Of course I do! I get my financial advice from the Bible and those who base their advice on Godly principles. God’s way is the opposite of what is commonly taught.

Matthew 19:30, “But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.” NLT

Matthew 20:16, “So those who are last now will be first then, and those who are first will be last.” NLT

Matthew 20:27, “And whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave.” NLT

Life right now may not seem fair, but when we get to heaven it will be worth it! God is preparing a place just for me, John 14:1-3.

Matthew 20:23, “…My Father has prepared those places for the ones he has chosen.” NLT

Dear Lord,

Thank you for the reminder that this is not all there is! I am so grateful that my real life is waiting for me in heaven. This is just bootcamp.

Amen
