Bugs

This morning I poured my second cup of coffee…the last one in the pot…and added sugar and cream. I noticed something floating in my cup. I thought it was lint. It wasn’t, it was a bug!

Gross

I fished the bug out, blessed my cup of coffee, claimed Mark 16:18 (if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them) over it, and drank it anyway.

The Pharisees used to strain their water to be sure they didn’t accidentally eat a gnat.

Matthew 23:24, “Blind guides! You strain your water so you won’t accidentally swallow a gnat, but you swallow a camel.” NLT

“23:24 See Leviticus 11:4, 23, where gnats and camels are both forbidden a food.” New Living Translation Notes

You couldn’t accidentally eat a camel like you could a gnat. Apparently, the Pharisees followed the law publicly, but not privately.

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for the reminder that my private life is more important than my public life.

Amen
