Waiting

The hardest years of my life were 2008 through 2011. Why? During those years I was frequently sick and housebound.

I was waiting.

I am healthy now and can even get out. During those years I listened to the song, “While I’m Waiting,” by John Waller, over and over and over and over….

********************************************

When we read the Bible, we are not told how many years elapsed between verses. The story of Hannah is a good example. You get the impression Samuel was born the next year, when it was actually several years later.

1 Samuel 1:26, “‘Sir, do you remember me?’ Hannah asked. ‘I am the woman who stood here several years ago praying to the Lord.'” NLT

Don’t count the years you have been waiting. God has perfect timing. Instead we need to:

  • Be hopeful
  • Move ahead
  • Be obedient
  • Serve
  • Worship
  • Do not faint
  • Run your race
  • Be faithful

Dear Lord,

Thank you for bringing us through the years of waiting. The verse “I know the plans I have for you…” was not fulfilled for 70 years. Forgive us for our impatience. Help us to trust in your perfect timing.

Amen
