Derek was leaving for work and I asked him to turn around. He asked, “Why?” as he swiveled.

“I was just checking for rhinestones.”

My favorite jeans are missing. They are black with rhinestones on the pockets. They disappeared the week I was sick and David did the laundry.

We’ve looked everywhere, gone through everyone’s drawers and closets, and still haven’t found them. I’ve been wearing black corduroys instead; but I won’t be able to do that much longer because it is warming up outside.

I know God will restore them to me.

2 Samuel 22:21, “The Lord rewarded me for doing right; he restored me because of my innocence.” NLT

David lost his place in the palace, and his wife, because King Saul wanted to kill him, see 2 Samuel 5:1; 2 Samuel 3:12-16.

Playing the piano was taken away from me, because of sickness, and God restored it to me. If he can perform that miracle, I know he can help me find my jeans!

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for the reminder to hold things loosely. What has been taken away is often restored.

  1. March 17, 2016. I realized it was St. Patrick’s Day and I wasn’t wearing green. I decided to put a scarf on that had green leaves in it. I couldn’t find it. The second time I looked I realized there was black material covering up one of my hangers full of scarves. It was the missing black, dress jeans! They have been restored!
