Wiseguy

David was roasting coffee beans last night when the smoke detector went off. (We buy green coffee beans, roast them, and grind them daily.)

“Are you going to start over?” I asked.

“No, they are just a dark roast.”

“Burnt? They don’t get any darker than that?”

What does that have to do with today’s verse? Nothing, I’m just a wiseguy. But today I read about a man of unusual wisdom.

1 Chronicles 26:14, “…The north gate was assigned to his son, Zechariah, a man of unusual wisdom.” NLT

I wonder if the last phrase was added before he was the gate-keeper or after? If his wisdom was already established, was he surprised that God chose him as a gate-keeper? Or did his wisdom become well-known after he started guarding at the gate? I don’t have the answer.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for all of the jobs you have given me to do. I pray that I show wisdom in every area.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
