Our laws say a person is innocent until proven guilty. Sadly, once a charge is filed, people assume guilt. Even when one is unjustly charged…

…like Jesus.

Matthew 26:57, “Then the people who had arrested Jesus led him to the home of Caiaphus, the high priest, where the teachers of religious law and the elders had gathered.” NLT

Everything about the trial they had for Jesus was illegal. The trial was held in a home, in the middle of the night, without legal counsel.

The teachers of religious law were looking for a loophole. They wanted to kill Jesus, but cover up the act. That’s why they had false witnesses, see verses 59-61.

In the end, God proved that Jesus was the Son of God, and people saw through the farce of the charges.

Dear Father God,

I pray for those who are being unjustly charged. I ask you to bring the truth to light. Expose the motives of those pressing charges. Vindicate the innocent.

In Jesus Name,
