I rolled over in bed and the pain woke me, and David, up! The gall bladder is gone! Is that still infection? Gas? The stretched muscle?
Since I didn’t want to move to the couch and use the heating pad, I zapped a sinus mask and went back to bed. To retain the heat as long as possible, I covered the pad with the plastic storage bag. I don’t know if that was the cause, or if my flannel nightgown was too thin, but…
…I got a first degree burn!
Now my gut hurt inside and outside. I decided to soak in a lukewarm bath…only our tub is short and shallow. The only way I could get the affected area under water was to curl up in the fetal position and hold my head up.
That was not relaxing.
I dressed, got out the heating pad and pillows to make a bed on the couch. I made a cup of mint tea, just in case it was only gas. I ate the last Easter cookie for comfort; and then fell asleep.
The phone rang.
Our daughter hit a deer on the way to work. (This day just keeps getting better. Not.) She is fine and very lucky.
When I read today’s verse, I choked on the word “if.”
Job 9:27, “If I decided to forget my complaints, to put away my sad face and be cheerful.” New Living Translation
That’s it? I just have to decide to stop complaining? I sprayed Aloe gel on my burn and went back to bed.
A half an hour later, I woke up, and prayed the diarrhea meant the 4th antibiotic is finally killing the infection. I could only hope.
I went to the keyboard and practiced the songs for Sunday. There is peace in worship songs.
It’s not enough to decide to stop complaining, you have to take care of your needs (burn gel and a nap); and then replace it with praise and thanksgiving.
Job 11:18, 19, “Having hope will give you courage. You will be protected and will rest in safety. You will lie down unafraid, and many will look to you for help.” New Living Translation
Dear Father God,
I have hope that the rest of the day will go better. Thank you for protecting Laura. I believe you are completing the healing in me.
In Jesus Name,
