I just realized it is “Opening Day.”

I wanted to have a date night on Friday, but there was a “Final Four?” game on TV. Yeah, yeah, it’s an important game.

All of the games are important.

We went to the “Cradle of Hope” banquet last night. It was a lovely dinner, but I hardly call a fundraiser “romantic.”

It’s not that he ignores me, (although I frequently accuse him of it), it’s just that his focus us always on the game…he can be distracted mid-sentence.

After 33 1/2 years of marriage, you would think I had come to terms with this…but I haven’t. You hear of baseball widows and football widows…but when he loves basketball, too…I’ve been a widow for my entire married life.

(I know all of the sports fans will unfollow me, but this is a big deal to me.)

Anything that is a big deal to me, God sees.

He knows.

He understands.

Just to show me, he sent a verse to let me see He knows exactly how I feel.

On the plus side, David will be too busy to read my posts…until November. I can freely talk about him! (Lol)

Dear Father God,

Forgive me for being petty. Thank you for caring about my feelings even when no one else understands them. I pray for all of the other “baseball widows.” Send them an extra dose of love today. They are going to need it.

In Jesus Name,

Boy, do I have to eat crow!

The first game of David’s beloved team was at noon. At church, we were invited to a birthday party for his Aunt Nellie at 1 p.m.

Normally, we don’t get home until 12:30 p.m. because we have to tear down and transport the drums. But, Derek needed to attend a youth function in another town, and they tore down the drums during the offering. After unloading them at home, David cleaned up and put on a fresh shirt.

Then, after church, he took me out to lunch!

We don’t normally eat out, but I had a coupon! (Lol) After the birthday party, he shocked me by stopping at the library to let me pick up a book on hold.

To top it off, he took me home and told me to nap…(the surgeon hasn’t released me yet)…and then went to HyVee for bananas, which were on sale, and to Wal-Mart for Allegra.

He missed the game entirely.

I’m so glad I gave it over to God!
