“If she gets in my car, I’m taking her home.”
Rachel met Clara on New Year’s Eve. The were inseparable all evening. Clara was a stray that Mike and Paula took in. She is a good dog, but she loves chasing vehicles. They live on a farm and Mike sells seeds. They have traffic all day long and into the evening. They were terrified that Clara was going to be killed while chasing one of their customers.
Mike and Paula hosted a cookout last night and Rachel was home for the weekend. Clara remembered her. Rachel sat down and Clara went right to her. All it took was a smile from Rachel and Clara jumped up in her lap.
They were that way all evening, although Clara ended up using half of the chair. When it was time to go…Rachel made that comment…and Clara jumped in the backseat. Mike and Paula got out her kennel, leash, toys, Santa suit, red long johns, and some other outfit. They loaded all of her favorite things in to the back of Rachel’s car.
Clara just kept her eyes on Rachel. She didn’t even whine for Maisy, her companion for the last several months. She had found her new master.
Each of us are born in sin. It is unavoidable. Satan is our master because the earth is his domain. (Not even Satan wants to go to Hell!)
But…when we meet Jesus…and choose to follow Him…we find our new Master. He loves us and makes a permanent home for us…just like Rachel did for Clara.
There is a learning curve. Like Clara, we will learn our new Master’s voice. We will only take commands from him. Elijah knew his Master’s voice.
2 Kings 1:9, “…Man of God, the king has commanded you to come down with us.” New Living Translation
2 Kings 1:11, “…Man of God, the king demands that you come down at once.” New Living Translation
2 Kings 1: 13, “…He pleaded with him. O Man of God, please spare my life and the lives of these, your fifty servants.” New Living Translation
They will command, demand, and plead with us, but we don’t move until we hear from the Lord.
2 Kings 1:15, “Then the angel of the Lord said to Elijah, ‘Go down with him.’ Elijah got up and went with him to the king.” New Living Translation
Dear Father God,
I long to hear Your voice. I know I will hear it today because I am going to church. You speak through the music, worship, and the sermon. Thank You for always showing up.
In Jesus Name,
