We had a “girl’s night” a few weeks ago with my daughter, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. The highlight of the evening was when my granddaughter, who is 5, gave makeovers.

She chose soft colors for my sister-in-law, but used several layers of lipstick topped with a few layers of lip gloss! She chose darker colors for my daughter. By the end of the second makeover, she had black eyes with blue arrows pointing to them!

I like to wear a little makeup, but her mom is a farm girl and she saves makeup for special events: Queen Contests or her wedding. I explained to Olivia that women wear makeup to look younger…that’s why her mom doesn’t need it and neither does she.

There is a difference between a touch of makeup, stage makeup, and a prostitute’s makeup.

Amos 2:2, “…Tell her to remove the prostitute’s makeup from her face and the clothing that exposes her breasts.” New Living Translation

We are to use a light hand when applying makeup and our clothes should always be modest.

Dear Father God,

You probably laugh at us when we think we need makeup because You see our beauty. Those who love us also see our beauty without any makeup. But You also designed us to like pretty things and to want to look pretty. After all, look at the flowers. You created such colorful beauty. Thank You for all of the beauty around us.

In Jesus Name,
