“Pentecost Sunday”

No one knows me like my family. They live with me and have seen me at my worst! I have two sisters that know me very well, too. They saw me struggle through my teenage years. (My brother was 12 when I married and he lives on the East coast.)

The greatest compliment I can receive is when one of them tells of a godly character that they see in me. (They also know about my short-comings.)

That is why today’s verse is so amazing. Included in the upper room were Jesus’ mother, brothers, and sisters. Those who lived with Him until he was 30, believed in Him. They knew He was the Son of God.

Acts 1:14, “They all met together and were constantly united in prayer; along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus.” New Living Translation

Jesus’s brothers and sisters. The Gospel of Mark 6:3 and the Gospel of Matthew 13:55-56 state that James, Joses (or Joseph), Judas, and Simon were the brothers of Jesus, the son of Mary. The same verses also mention unnamed sisters of Jesus.

Dear Father God,

Thank You for sending Your Son to die for me. Thank You that my name is now listed as a sister to Jesus Christ. Thank You for complete acceptance.

In Jesus Name,
