Joy

Joy is not to be confused with happiness. Happiness depends upon circumstances. Joy is being happy regardless of your circumstances. Joy comes from God.

Hebrews 1:9, “You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, O God, your God has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else.” New Living Translation

There is something you can do to increase your joy:

J – Jesus

O – Others

Y – Yourself

Doing something for Jesus brings joy. Doing something for others brings joy. Doing something for yourself brings happiness, but it will not last.

Nehemiah 8:10, “…the joy of the Lord is your strength.” New Living Translation

Romans 15:13, “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with all joy…” New Living Translation

Dear Father God,

You filled Jesus with the oil of joy and I know you can fill me too. I realize that circumstances are not my source of joy. (It’s a good thing.) Please fill me with joy.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
