I’ve heard many times that people today lack commonsense. They do the same things over and over, but hope for a different result. They think everyone is good, and it shocks them when someone takes advantage of one who is helpless.

They think laws will change behavior, but these chapters prove laws are ineffective. A law will not change the beliefs of anyone.

We try to change each other’s beliefs with arguments. Only God can change your heart and your beliefs. We waste our breath arguing with someone who is asleep. They can’t see or hear us.

Romans 11:8, “As the Scriptures say, ‘God has put them into a deep sleep. To this day he has shut their eyes so they do not see, and closed their ears so they do not hear.'” New Living Translation

We are to pray.

Dear Father God,

Remind me of this verse the next time I am with someone who disagrees with me. I pray that you will open eyes and ears.
