Fasting

I shared on Thursday about the book I am reading, “Sheep, Goats…and Wolves.” Excitedly I read the chapter, “Making the Change.”

“If you are a sheep, but you have attributes or habits that are wolfish or goatish, you can change.” Sheep, Goats…and Wolves, by Dr. Mark Barclay

My excitement died quickly. The cure? Fasting and Prayer!

I used to fast regularly, but got out of the habit when I became pregnant. I know God honors instant obedience and I fasted lunch.

After praying, I kept working and finished all of my tasks. David went to get groceries after work. I needed 2 ingredients he was purchasing to make dinner. That added another hour to my fast. To pass the time, I started reading Facebook.

Big Mistake

Facebook will not encourage you when you are fasting! It seemed everyone had just put a new recipe on their timeline! It was killing me!

But that is the point of fasting. You are killing desires of your flesh.

Colossians 3:5, “So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you…” New Living Translation

Dear Father God,

Thank You for loving me even when I am not a good sheep. Thank You for showing me what I need to do.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
