Today we start reading the last book of the Bible. It is a book of hope.

“Though the world around them was hostile and often appeared to be winning the battle, these Christians could stand firm because they knew the end of the story: Jesus Christ and his saints will be victorious in the end.” New Living Translation introduction to Revelation

Revelations 1:4, “…Grace and peace to you from the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come; from the Sevenfold Spirit before His throne.” New Living Translation

When I read this verse, I stopped on the phrase “Sevenfold Spirit.” The text note also referred to them as the seven Spirits of God.

Who are they?

I found there are three possible interpretations of the seven Spirits of God. The most interesting was from Isaiah 11:2.

“…This could possibly explain the seven spirits of God: 1) Spirit of the Lord, 2) Spirit of wisdom, 3) Spirit of understanding, 4) Spirit of counsel, 5) Spirit of power, 6) Spirit of knowledge, 7) Spirit of the fear of the Lord.”

As we live in our hostile world, we have hope because we know Jesus Christ wins. As Christians, we have access to the seven spirits of God.

We have:

  1. The Lord
  2. His wisdom
  3. His understanding
  4. His counsel
  5. His power
  6. His knowledge
  7. The fear (reverence) of the Lord.

He provides everything we need to stand firm.

Dear Father God,

Thank You for all of Your gifts. Thank You for telling us what to expect. I pray that we are not lukewarm and show our love for You as we did when we first met You. Thank You for hope and for providing everything we need.

In Jesus Name,
