Lifespan

My dad told us he would die when he was 77 – just like his father, and he did. My grandmother, my mother’s mother, lived to be 97. I tell my kids I will live to be 100. How do I know? I don’t. The day of my death was written before I was conceived, see Psalms 139:16.

But I am living my life planning to be alive until I’m 100. I exercise, drink water, eat a lot of raw fruit and vegetables, and get plenty of rest. As I was reading the chapters today I realized my goal may be too short!

Genesis 6:3, “Then the Lord said, ‘My Spirit will not put up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years.'” New Living Translation

Dear Father God,

Show me how to take care of the body you gave me to allow it to last for 120 years. Help me to always remember it is a temple of Your Spirit.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
