Obviously

Joseph was learning how to be a leader all his life. While working for the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, he learned the wrong way to lead, see 37:2. He did not repeat the bad things they had done.

In Potiphar’s house, he learned how to delegate responsibilities to others, see 39:4. He learned administration there, too, see 38:6

Joseph honed his people skills while in prison. The warden put him in charge of the prisoners and everything that happened, see 39:22.

His leadership training took place while he was very young and later as a slave. But Pharaoh did not choose Joseph because of his leadership skills, his delegating skills, his administrative skill, or his people skills.

Genesis 41:38, “So Pharaoh asked his officials, ‘Can we find anyone else like this man so obviously filled with the spirit of God?’ ” New Living Translation

Skill does not bring promotions, being filled with the spirit of God does.

Dear Father God,

Help me to be full of your Spirit,

In Jesus Name,

Amen
