When Joseph went to Egypt he dressed like a Hebrew and let his beard grow. It was easy to identify him as a Hebrew, see 41:12. When he was called to see Pharaoh, he shaved, see 41:14. By the time his brothers came to Egypt, they didn’t even recognize him, see 45:1, 2. Eventually, his brothers even looked like Egyptians.
Genesis 50:11, “…This is a place of deep mourning for these Egyptians.” New Living Translation
It’s hard to keep ourselves from looking like the people around us. We have to dress modestly. We have to remember Whose we are.
Dear Father God,
Thank You for making me one of Your children. May the way I dress always show that I am Your child.
In Jesus Name,
