Monday we read about the Hebrews taking Jacob back to bury him, see “Identify.” The Canaanites thought they were Egyptians. Over 40 years had passed since that day, see Exodus 12:40. Not only did they look like Egyptians, they may have turned from God to worship Egyptian gods.
The Hebrews suffered along with the Egyptians when the water turned to blood and the plagues of frogs and gnats. God was showing both the Egyptians and the Hebrews that He was El Shadai, God Almighty, see 6:3. Apparently, they learned their lesson and turned back to the God of their fathers: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Exodus 8:22, “But this time I will spare the region of Goshen, where my people live….” New Living Translation
Dear Father God,
Spare us from the disasters to come.
In Jesus Name,
