I love decorating my home for each season and holiday. My favorite is Christmas. I clear my schedule for the weekend after Thanksgiving. First, I decorate the tree according to my theme. Then I design the wreath for my front door, a kissing ball, and the tablescapes for my kitchen and dining rooms. All of them will reflect my theme.
It’s a lot of work, but David calls it “playing.” He doesn’t see the work involved in designing. He doesn’t see the hours I put in before Thanksgiving praying for this year’s theme, planning, looking for inexpensive decorations to go with it, or making the decorations with items I have on hand. Designing is not important to him, but it is to God.
Exodus 35:35, “…They excel as craftsmen and as designers.” New Living Translation
I think my assignment today is to complete my plans for each area and to start making the ornaments I will need.
Dear Father God,
Thank You for the gifts and talents You gave me. Help me to use all of them for Your glory. Thank You for sending Your Son; without Jesus, there would be no Christmas. I know You have a master plan for my design. Help me to hear Your voice as you guide me over obstacles and remind me of items I have buried in boxes and closets.
In Jesus Name,
