Scapegoat

Leviticus 16:8, “He is to cast sacred lots to determine which goat will be reserved as an offering to the Lord and which will carry the sins of the people to the wilderness of Azazel.” New Living Translation

A general definition of a scapegoat today is someone who takes the blame for another’s sins. Yet, we see here that both goats carried the sin. They sacrificed and burned the first goat. They took the scapegoat  to the desert and left.

If I feel I am the scapegoat, I will try to remember that I am still alive!

Dear Father God,

We are all judged unfairly at one time or another. We have all been blamed for something when we were innocent. Help me to remember that you are my Judge and my Vindicator.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
