The time change and busy weekend wore me out. I finally gave up and went to sleep at 8:00 p.m. I woke up at 11:30 p.m. and decided to read until I was drowsy again.
I went to the living room and found Derek watching as the election results came in. He told me he was tired. I offered to stay up and pray. I got down on my knees and prayed just like I remember Grandma Whitmore doing.
After a while, I moved to sit on the couch and kept praying. At 12:20 p.m., God told me, “It’s done.” My burden for the election lifted. He reminded me, He was in control regardless of the result. I went to bed.
It was a special time being in the Lord’s presence in the middle of the night.
Leviticus 24:3, “. . . keep the lamps burning in the Lord’s presence all night. . . .” New Living Translation
Dear Father God,
I am grateful that You are always awake. I pray for President Obama as he finishes his term and I pray for president-elect Trump. I pray for the senators, congressmen, judges, and those elected to serve in other civic offices.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
