Phineas

God told Moses to take revenge on the Midianites because they led the Israelites into idolatry, Numbers 31:1. We read the story in Numbers 25:6-18. The plague that came after they started worshipping Baal killed 24,000 people. One man stopped the plague and God used the same man to lead the battle against the Midianites.

Numbers 31:6, “Then Moses sent them out, 1,000 men from each tribe, and Phineas son of Eleazer the priest led them into battle. They carried along the holy objects of the sanctuary and the trumpets for sounding the charge.” New Living Translation

Numbers 25:7-9 described the actions of Phineas. All it took was one man to stand for righteousness. One man, who believed God was fighting for them, to lead them into battle where they won and not one man of Israel died, Numbers 31:49.

Dear Father God,

Thank You for the reminder that one man with You is a majority. Thank You for the reminder that all You need is one man who will stand for righteousness. Show me where I need to stand for righteousness.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
