“Giving is the key to blessing. The seed you sow now decides the size of the harvest you’ll reap later. If you want it, give it!” Friends, Foes, & Fools, by James Merritt
My children are lucky because they will have an aunt and a cousin at the table this Thanksgiving. They will also be joined by a great-grandmother and a niece. Not many families are lucky enough to have four generations around the table!
Today we read about some girls who had to marry their cousins to keep their inherited land in their ancestral tribe.
Numbers 36:10, “Then the daughters of Zelophehad did as the Lord commanded Moses. Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah all married cousins on their father’s side.” New Living Translation
Those men could have been second cousins, third cousins, or cousins-once-removed. (I can never keep these straight!) I bet my daughter is glad she doesn’t have to marry a cousin! They are all younger than her.
Dear Father God,
Thank You for my family. I know You have the perfect man picked out for my daughter. I pray for him every day. I pray that You will protect him and give him wisdom at work. I pray that she never settles for less than the one You have chosen.
In Jesus Name,
