Last night at worship practice, one of the musicians said, “I repent every Sunday before the service.” That is the attitude the tax collector had.
Luke 18:13, “But the tax collector, standing at a distance, would not even lift his eyes to heaven, but struck his chest, saying, ‘God be merciful to me a sinner.’ ” Modern English Version
As musicians, we come to offer our gifts with the heart of a child. “God, I’m a little scared, but if You are with me, I know I can do this.”
Luke 18:17, “Truly I say to you, whoever will not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will in no wise enter it.” Modern English Version
And like every loving father, God overlooks the “grace notes” and hears only beautiful music from the child He loves. He promised to never leave us and we know we can lean on Him when we are unsure or uncomfortable.
He likes to shake things up to keep us from getting too comfortable. Why? Because then we have to lean on Him!
Dear Father God,
I am grateful that You do not expect perfection in worship. I am grateful that You take the gift I am offering and make it into something beautiful with Your anointing. I am grateful that I can repent every Sunday and You always forgive me. Prepare me for the next shake-up.
In Jesus Name,
