Yoke

I can remember my dad using the phrase, “The anointing breaks the yoke.” I thought it meant that God would pour anointing oil on us and that would break the yoke. I was wrong.

Isaiah 10:27, “In that day his burden shall be taken away from off your shoulder, and his yoke from off your neck; and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing oil.” Modern English Version

The New International Version said, “The yoke will be broken because you have grown so fat.”

“Like a sturdy animal, Israel is able to break the yoke.” New International Version Study Bible Notes

We are to grow stronger and stronger until we are able to break the yoke off on our own. Christianity is not being passive sitting in a pew on Sunday. It is spending time with God and growing stronger every day until we are able to shake off the things that used to bind us.
