Counterclockwise

We all have wished we could make time stand still. We would love to turn the hands of the clock counterclockwise. Today we read where God did just that!

As the sun was setting, the shadows moved up the steps where King Hezekiah could see them. Hezekiah asked God to move the shadow back down the steps, (see 2 Kings 20:8-11). God not only stopped time, he turned back the clock!

Why did God perform this miracle? To show his faithful servant that he would not die from his sickness.

2 Kings 20:2, 3, “Then he turned his face toward the wall and prayed to the Lord, saying, ‘Please, O Lord, remember how I have walked before you faithfully and with an undivided heart and have done what is good in your sight.’ And Hezekiah wept bitterly.” Modern English Version

Hezekiah humbled himself and reminded God that he served Him with an undivided heart and faithfully did what was good in His sight. Servants of Jesus Christ live like Hezekiah and forget the opinions of others.

Galatians 1:10, “For am I now seeking the approval of men or of God? Or am I trying to please men? For if I were still trying to please men, I would not be the servant of Christ.” Modern English Version

We work for God, not man because God holds time in his hands.
