My son put this on his Facebook timeline.
I commented, “Cook for me!”
It’s sad, but we measure everything in dollars and cents. Most mothers just want to sleep in and wake up to a clean house!
I’m still deciding what to do. The easiest thing would be to go out to eat, but I don’t know if that is what I’m supposed to do this year. I’m not saying it’s wrong to spend money on your Mom, I’m saying you need to think about what she likes and do that.
This year my daughter bought tickets to an “Olivia Newton-John concert.” I have never been to a “secular” concert and it is in a big city – Davenport, Iowa. I was nervous.
Then she told me she invited my daughter-in-law and her mom – and my future daughter-in-law and her mom! That should keep me out of trouble no matter how much Prednisone I had to take to go.
If she had asked, I would not have even thought of this concert as a Mother’s Day gift. This is a once in a lifetime event. I’m excited and know the 6 of us will have a great time. (The other 2 mothers worked together for years. It’s a rural area!)
But it is not about the money spent. It’s about the time spent together.

Today we read about Tyre, where it was all about the money – no matter what it took.
Isaiah 23:17, “At the end of seventy years, the Lord will punish Tyre. Then she shall turn to her harlot’s wages and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms on the face of the earth.” Modern English Version

“A ‘prostitute nation’ was one that sought to make the highest profits, regardless of the means. Self-gratification was the key. . . . ” New International Version Study Bible Notes
I’m not thawing out any meat for tomorrow. I’m still hoping my son cooks for me! (Or my husband because he made me a mother!)
