When I woke up, I grabbed my fitness tracker to check the time and leaned over to get out of bed. Somehow, in my momentum, I shoved the tracker between the fins of the vertical fan next to the bed.
Luckily, the fan was off! The clasp of the tracker slid behind the edge of the fin and stuck fast. I could not dislodge it!
I burst out laughing, which woke David up, and groped for my glasses. I told him what happened and checked the time – 4:16 am. I got up anyway to keep my date with Jesus.
I’m going to miss that fan.
Isaiah 60:1, “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.” Modern English Version
I drank some water while the coffee brewed and recorded yesterday’s events in my journal. It was great catching up with friends at Quinn’s graduation party. It’s good for me to get everything off my chest and into my journal. I confessed that I went to the Farmer’s Market to buy fruit and came home with a huckleberry pie!
When the coffee finished, I poured a cup and added sugar. (Remind me to tell Derek not to fill the sugar dispenser when it is wet. It does not end well.) I sat on the couch and started my devotions.
“Dear Father God, Thank you for the way you meet my needs. I appreciate the “Dockers” dress pants that I found at the Bargain Box in my size. Finding 2 pairs of jeans and 2 pairs of Capri shorts at Goodwill was awesome. I enjoyed the extra blessing of finding stickers and tags on 2 of them and the Capri shorts with elastic that will be easy to tailor. . .”
The last thing on my prayer list today was to pray for the church service.
“. . . God, I pray for salvations. I ask You to draw people in who do not know You. I pray for anointing on the worship team. I pray that people will feel Your presence in the music. I ask for anointing on Pastor Monte. Anoint his sermon and speak through his words. Let your anointing fall on him right now . . .”
I paused and looked at the clock. It was 5:30 a.m. Pastor Monte may not appreciate me praying that prayer right at this moment. I don’t want to wake up Pastor Peggy either!
“. . . God, if you have a better plan, do that! Amen”
When you pray, you are like a watchman. It’s hard to keep silent and keep from getting excited when you commune with God.
Isaiah 62:6, “I have set a watchman on your walls, O Jerusalem, who shall never hold their peace day nor night. You who remind the Lord, do not keep silent.” Modern English Version
I pray God’s anointing on the service because I want everyone to feel what I feel each morning on my dates with Jesus. I want them to know they were in the presence of God. I want them to feel Jesus’ touch and know they are changed. One touch from Jesus and you will never be the same.
Isaiah 64:1, “Oh, that You would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might shake at Your presence.” Modern English Version
