Protected from Perils in a Journey

The recliner we purchased on “Black Friday” broke. It has felt “jiggly” for a few months. When you sat down it seemed to rock from side to side, not just back and forth. Maybe there was a cracked board it finally broke.

David called the store and they said the head manager had to look at it. He is only at the store Monday – Thursday until noon. David’s boss is gone and that means I have to return it to the store.

I’m concerned about the trip, not because I have to move the chair, they will do the heavy lifting, – it’s the weather. Multiple tornadoes touched down in Iowa last night and they predict more for today.

Paul traveled far and wide. He encountered all types of weather. That did not stop him from traveling.

2 Corinthians 11:26, 27, “In journeys often, in perils of water,…in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness,…in cold and nakedness.” Modern English Version

The Message says, “…blasted by the cold, naked to the weather.”

I checked weather.com and the storm should reach our area around 3:00 p.m. I just need to hit the road and get back before then.

I’m grateful I will be in a van, not walking. I will not feel the heat or the rain. The rain even knocked down the pollen!

I also have the promises in these verses:

2 Timothy 1:7, “God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.”

1 John 5:18, “I am born of God and the evil one cannot touch me.”

Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.”
