Pastor Monte was out-of-town this week. The Youth Pastor, Josh Cody, preached on Sunday. He had an unforgettable illustration.
On a table, he had several notebooks and three Bibles. He labeled the notebooks, “What My Friends Say,” “What Democrats Say,” “What Republicans Say,” etc.
In the first Bible, he read a verse that was unpopular and then ripped the page out! (You should have heard the gasp of the congregation.)
In the second Bible, he ripped out the pages containing unpopular verses and replaced them with politically correct pages from his favorite notebooks.
He opened up the third Bible to reveal all the pages were gone except John 3:16.
“God told us not to add anything to the scripture or to take anything away, Deuteronomy 4:2, 12:32; and Revelation 22:18. When He said, ‘Don’t go to bed angry.’ He meant it!” Josh Cody 6-25-17
Ouch! That was exactly what I did on May 19th!
On Wednesday night when the Media Pastor, Brant Knudsen, preached, I heard it again.
“We cannot say what the world says and hear what the world hears; we need to see transformation. ‘Don’t go to bed angry.’ ” Brant Knudsen 6-28-17
I should have known I would be tested! Another opportunity for David to make me angry arose – and I went to bed!
Romans 2:5, “But because of your hardness and impenitent heart, you are storing up treasures of wrath against yourself on the day of wrath when the righteous judgment of God will be revealed.” Modern English Version

“You’re not getting by with anything. Every refusal and avoidance of God adds fuel to the fire….to those who insist on getting their own way and take the path of least resistance, Fire!” The Message
Awkward.
