I was reading on Pinterest this morning, and one post said, “To furnish your apartment start by looking in your parent’s home.”
It’s a well-known fact that parents will give the shirt off of their back for their children. But, there’s a difference between taking what they no longer need and expecting them to supply all that you need. (I am not speaking about my kids.) And not once did I read, offer to buy the items from them or repay them in some way.
1 Timothy 5:4, “But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety at home and to repay their parents.” Modern English Version

“If a widow has family members to take care of her, let them learn that religion begins at their own doorstep and that they should pay back with gratitude some of what they have received.” The Message

“Since we entered the world penniless and will leave it penniless, if we have bread on the table and shoes on our feet, that’s enough.” The Message
Our parents fed us, clothed us, and provided shelter for us. The day may come when we will need to pay them back in kind. What can I do for my Mom?
