Small, Daily Steps, Depending Totally on Him

The note written in my planner for today left me overwhelmed. It is the first step on a new adventure and I will have a guide this time. I can’t help but remember when I hit a wall the last time.

I opened an email from Steven Furtick.

We want the walls to fall down…but when the walls fall down – now you’ve gotta fight!…You want a breakthrough? What if God has to break you?

I opened my devotional, The Word for You Today USA, and read this.

Understand this: Satan will try to discourage and defeat you by making you feel overwhelmed by the problem. That’s why you need to counterpunch, by breaking down your goals into smaller steps….Live in day-tight compartments…live in total dependence on Him, God’s grace, not your own works, is the key to victory.

“All In” by Mark Batterson

I opened my New International Version Study Bible to dig deeper into a verse in Psalms.

Psalms 139:1, “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.” New International Version

* * * * * * *

“God, you know me perfectly – here no abstract doctrine of divine omniscience but far beyond David’s knowledge of himself: his every action (v. 2a), his every undertaking (v. 3a) and the manner in which he pursues it (v. 3b), even his thoughts before they are fully crystalized (v. 2b) and his words before they are uttered (v. 4). See also v. 23.”

Then, I read today’s assigned chapters.

Ezekiel 42:27, “…I will accept you, says the Lord God.” Modern English Version

Ezekiel 44:18, “…They shall not gird themselves with anything that causes sweat.” Modern English Version

God accepts me even when I’m overwhelmed. He knows how I think. My task should not cause me to break out in a sweat because he has built me for this task. When I do the thing He has called me to do, it is easy and not a burden.

Matthew 11:28-30, “28) Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

29) Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me. For I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

30) For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.” Modern English Version
