Sunday morning, while on vacation with my Mom and sisters, they asked me to find a sermon. I skipped through the channels, hoping to find Steven Furtick. I stopped on a channel with a woman speaking. I don’t know her name or the name of the church she represented, but one thing she said made me listen to the rest.
“We see each trial, test, and situation as pass or fail. God marks down our progress.”
We would love it if God removed all our problems simultaneously and instantly. But He doesn’t work that way.
Exodus 23:30, “Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you become fruitful and inherit the land.” Modern English Version
We want fruit and to receive our inheritance. God doesn’t just dump it on us. We have to work for it.
Exodus 23:31, “…for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you will drive them out before you.” Modern English Version

- If I want success in my vocation, I have to work for it.
- If I want a better marriage, I have to work for it.
- If I want a healthy body, I have to work for it.
- If I want musical skills, I have to work for it.
None of these things will happen overnight. If I continue to work on them, I will see progress.
