No Leftovers?

Yesterday I mapped out the tasks I need to do for our Thanksgiving dinner. I do not have a deep freeze which meant I wrote, “Buy turkey” on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. That would give it plenty of time to thaw in the refrigerator.

I added up the number of guests I expect to figure how big of a bird to purchase. Then I added a few pounds to make sure I have leftovers! I decorate for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. I do not want to cook that day!

In the Old Testament times, there were different offerings. They had to eat the peace-offering for thanksgiving all at once. They burned the leftovers.

Leviticus 7:15, “The flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings for thanksgiving shall be eaten the same day that it is offered; he shall not leave any of it until the morning.” Modern English Version

What if we planned just enough food for 1 meal at Thanksgiving. I doubt my family would like it!
