There is a lie that is heard in many churches. The lie is: “if you pray enough, read your Bible enough, give in the offering, etc., you will stop sinning and lead a blameless life.” It is just not so!
We are all human, from the youngest child to the Senior Pastor. We will “miss the mark” from time to time. God knows this and made provision for it.
1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Modern English Version
This is why God instructed Moses to have so many sacrifices. He gave the Israelites many opportunities to confess their sins. He had a special sacrifice just for the high priest, Aaron, and his family.
Leviticus 16:6, “Aaron shall offer his bull for the sin offering, which is for himself and make atonement for himself and for his house.” Modern English Version
