Cutting? In the Bible?

Yesterday I woke up with a sinus headache. I used a sinus rinse; then Vicks/a warm, wet washcloth/sinus mask for 10 minutes; took regular meds plus nasal spray, Ibuprofen, Sudafed; stood in a hot shower until I ran out of hot water; ate an omelet with salsa, and used eucalyptus oil.

No relief.

I ate spicy dip with chips for lunch. My eyes teared up and I could no longer feel my tongue. That didn’t work either!

I decided to ignore it and practice for Sunday’s service. I played through “Chain Breaker” a few times and started singing along.

I choked and gagged!

Singing caused the bones in my head to vibrate and my sinuses started to drain! When I realized what was happening, I sang louder with more gusto! I played and sang that song 5 times! When I finished the pressure was gone!

“You got pain? He’s the pain taker! If you feel lost, He’s a way maker! If you need freedom, or saving, He’s a prison shaking Savior! If you got chains, He’s a chain breaker!”

Today I read about a man cutting. Cutting? In the Bible?

Mark 5:5, “Night and day he roamed through the graves and the hills, screaming out and slashing himself with sharp stones.” The Message

This man was cutting himself with sharp stones. He was obviously tormented. Matthew 8:16 says Jesus “relieved the inwardly tormented.” (The Message)

Matthew 4:23, 24, “He also healed people of their diseases and of the bad effects of their bad lives….People brought anybody with an ailment, whether mental, emotional or physical. Jesus healed them, one and all.” The Message

It doesn’t matter if the torment is the result of your bad choices or the bad choices made by others. Jesus wants to break those chains in your life. He offers peace, not torment.

John 14:27, “I’m leaving you well and whole. That’s my parting gift to you. Peace. I don’t leave you the way you’re used to being left – feeling abandoned, bereft. So don’t be upset. Don’t be distraught.” The Message

All you have to do is ask Jesus to break your chains. I found singing this song builds up my faith!
